Erica Spray is a Louisiana native who planted roots in Sterrett, Alabama, where she lives with her husband Shane, and their son. Spray owns and operates Simply Slim in Alabaster, a weight loss and wellness spa. Her suspense/thriller novel is about Sadie Crowe, a young runaway trying to make it on her own as a bartender in the middle of nowhere. She meets and falls for a mysterious man when dark things begin to happen. The novel follows Crowe’s journey from darkness to light.
How did you come up with this idea?
I traveled for work for many years, and I met a lot of people along my travels. I used a little bit of my background growing up in Louisiana—the good, bad, and the ugly. But ultimately, I just chose to write a fiction novel based on a strong female lead who overcomes some heavy things on her journey to find God.
How did you learn to write?
Writing just came natural to me. I always say that when God puts a calling on your life that it will never stop calling you. For me, that calling was writing.
How long did it take you to write this book?
I wrote it in five months.
Will you write another novel?
My second novel (unrelated to this one) is another suspense thriller. This one is in the editing stage. I am now working on my third.
