Dear friends,
As we look forward to the warm days of summer, we are excited about the return of Alabaster CityFest on June 4! After two years of cancellations due to COVID-19, the premier event in Alabaster returns to the grounds of Thompson High School for its 20thanniversary. CityFest is the largest free event of its kind in Alabama, and we are ready to welcome the return of this beloved event. Check Alabastercityfest.com for announcements of musical acts.
We are so proud of our Thompson High School class of 2022 graduates and wish them every success as they embark on their next adventure. There will be 539 graduates to receive their diplomas this year at UAB’s Bartow Arena (617 13th St. S. in Birmingham) on May 24 at 6 p.m. Doors will open to guests at 4:30 p.m.
We are excited for our Parks and Recreation Department to host movies in the park this summer. Movies are FREE and begin at dark (around 8:30 p.m.) so it makes for a fun, economical evening of entertainment for families. Bring a blanket or chairs and money for dinner and drinks. Movies will be shown on June 10, June 17, July 8 and July 22. Be on the lookout for an announcement on the city’s website and Facebook page about the location. The movie lineup will be available on the city website soon. Also, Alabaster Teen Council will host movies at the THS stadium geared toward youth/teens.
ust a reminder to expect traffic delays on Highway 119 as the much-needed widening project continues and on I-65 due to summer beach traffic.
Happy Summer!
