Ya Ya Yarners – May 2, 16, and 23. Monday evenings at 5:00 pm. Members share crochet and knitting talents as well as work on community service projects. This year our group will provide hats and scarves to local charities and will provide shawls to local nursing home residents. Need to brush up on your skills? Resume Workshop – May 3. 1 pm. Alan Scott Hahn from Alabama Works! will guide you through formulating all parts of your resume including writing parts of the resume and understanding the differences between chronological and skills-based resumes. May 3. 4 pm. Beginning Microsoft Word 2019. This introduction to Microsoft Word 2019 is designed for students new to working with Microsoft Word in Windows. ABC & Ds of Medicare – May 9. 1 pm. Karen Haiflich of the Medicare Information Source will help you navigate through the process of Medicare. Learn about filing, benefits, and any other questions you might have. Program takes place in the Nan Abbott Room.
Library Book Group – May 19. 6:30 pm. Join us to discuss The Exiles by Christina Baker Kline. Sent to a Tasmanian penal colony after conceiving her employer’s grandchild, a young governess befriends a talented midwife and an orphaned Aboriginal chief’s daughter while confronting the harsh realities of British colonialism and oppression in 19th-century Australia. Program takes place in the Nan Abbott Room.

Medicare 101 – May 26. 6 pm. A fun and informative class to learn what to expect with Medicare and how to ask the right questions. Perfect for anyone wanting to learn about their Medicare options. Presented by Paige Phillips of Medicare Advisors of Alabama. Program takes place in the Nan Abbott Room.

Worldwide Knit in Public Day – June 11. 10 am – 2 pm. The Yaya Yarners will host a local Worldwide Knit in Public Day on June 11th from 10 am – 2 pm in the Piney Woods. Bring a chair and your hook or needles and yarn, and join us for a day of fun and fellowship with local knitters and crocheters. Exhibits of local crafters will be set up, as well as a yarn swap table. The Yaya Yarners is a group of knitters and crocheters who meet weekly at the library to share a love of fiber art. The group provides hats and scarves to local charities, as well as blankets and shawls to local nursing homes.
