After a successful 30-plus-year career in real estate, Tim Mitchell relished the idea of giving back to the Alabaster community he calls home. So around 2005, Mitchell and his wife Jessica created The Tim Mitchell Community Support Foundation as the non-profit arm of Tim Mitchell Real Estate. “The foundation allows us to be a corporate community sponsor and started when we began sponsoring schools, community events, and local ministries,” Mitchell says. “For those who have hired us and have helped our small business grow, we have been able to give back to those families and the organizations and ministries they are personally connected to or involved in.”
Thinking creatively, the Mitchells allow their clients to select the organizations that receive the foundation’s support whether it’s a sports team, a church ministry, or a community organization doing good works in Alabaster. “The focus of the foundation is anything that supports our community, whether it’s sponsoring local events or providing funds for families who are involved in athletics, band, dance, theater, classrooms, or missions and ministries,” Jessica Mitchell says. The foundation also lets clients and families use its Community Support cargo van for moving furniture and appliances, landscaping projects, or as an extra set of wheels when a car is in the shop. “The FREE use of the Community Support Van is an ongoing service for all our clients and families,” Mitchell says. “The possibilities and benefits are endless.”
Some of the groups and programs that have received the foundation’s support are baseball, soccer, cheerleading, softball, tennis, cross-country, golf, mountain biking, gymnastics, volleyball, and football teams; Special Equestrians; Wounded Warriors; various churches and ministries; school trips; youth events and camps; summer programs; college scholarships; and dozens of teacher classrooms, PTOs, and schools. “Because of those families that have hired our team, our foundation has been able to give tens of thousands of dollars directly back to their schools and community organizations,” Mitchell says.
Some of the Mitchells’ most meaningful moments have come when recognizing Students of the Week and Teachers of the Month in Alabaster City Schools. “And when we can join forces with our clients to support local charities and ministries such as Angel Warriors Foundation, Backpack Buddies, Samaritan’s Purse, Diabetes Foundation, Childhood Cancer, Easter Seals, Doulos Partners, and many other church ministry organizations,” Jessica Mitchell says. “Our focus and business is so much more than selling houses: it’s about families and supporting others in our community in any way we can. When you work with the Tim Mitchell Team, you not only save thousands, but you get so much more with the use of the FREE van and access to grants, sponsorships, and scholarships for their family, kids, and grandkids.”
Mitchell began his real estate career in the late 1980s and entered the Birmingham market in 2002. He’s been awarded dozens of state and local awards and is the overall top agent in the Pelham/Helena/Alabaster area based on production volume from 2004 to 2021. While his agency handles buying, building, and selling homes, Mitchell also specializes in renovations, new builds, development, and home and house plan design. With decades of experience, Mitchell has a thorough understanding of current market demands, contracts, and all types of construction. He has personally built and renovated dozens of homes, which has allowed him a knowledge and expertise in construction and renovations that most agents don’t have.
Mitchell and his wife Jessica met at the University of Alabama where Tim was a University of Alabama Cheerleader. They have been Alabaster residents for nearly 25 years, and their children grew up in Alabaster schools and are Thompson High School graduates. Jessica currently works for Alabaster City Schools, while also helping Tim and his team with their clients, home building, and renovation projects.
“We love being able to give back directly to the families who support our business and being able to, in turn, support the organizations and ministries that are important to them,” says Mitchell. “Our foundation would not exist without our clients and their families!”
